Summer in the Grove 2019

Summer in the Grove is an enrichment program designed to feed the intellect, creativity, and energy of the young adolescent with project based courses that include STEAM, fine arts, sports, life skills, and the humanities.

August Session Procedures

August Sessions for Summer in the Grove start Monday, August 5! Bring students to the Barton Schoolhouse in Heritage Park (1775 Orange Street, Redlands – please use the link for navigation, as this address is easily confused with other similar Orange “streets” in the area)Doors will open 30 minutes prior to start times in the morning or afternoon for check in, collection of paperwork, introductions, and a quick review of expectations before students proceed to classes.
Drop-off and Pick-up: Throughout the duration of their courses in August, students will be dropped off and picked up from the Barton Schoolhouse in Heritage Park. A Summer in the Grove staff member will be present 15 minutes before the start of courses and 15 minutes after the end of courses. Students that come earlier or stay later may be asked to leave the program or pay extra fees for supervision costs. Should you need to pick up early, are going to be late or absent, please call or text to (909) 255-0660, so that we can make necessary arrangements and inform teachers.
Daily Necessities: For each day of Summer in the Grove, students should bring a water bottle, snack, a bag to carry belongings, and come prepared for sun for at least short periods of time (that means sunscreen). They should also dress comfortably with closed toed shoes, as many of the classes will be held on the Grove School Farm Campus.
Lunch: Full day students need to bring a sack lunch (there is no food provided by Summer in the Grove). A microwave is available on site. Half day students are not permitted be on campus for lunch. Half day students who show up for lunch may be asked to leave the program or to pay for the full day program to help cover supervision costs.
Other Materials: Students enrolled in Photography: Lessons through the Lens should remember to bring a DSLR. Laptops for GIS and Photography are helpful, but not required. We can securely store items during the AM courses, as necessary.
Self-Administered Medication Waiver: If your student requires an inhaler or Epi-Pen, please be sure to bring your completed Self-Administered Medication Waiver.
Plan to Attend Grove-a-Ganza!: On the last day of Session 2, August 16) we will have a presentation of work from 3:30-4:30pm. Please mark your calendar and join us to see how your students have used their time!

Summer in the Grove 2019 is a Montessori-based summer enrichment program for middle-school aged students presented by the Armantrout Montessori Education Foundation.


Session I: June 17-28, 2019

Session II: August 5-16, 2019


  • Morning Class: 9:00AM – 12:00PM

  • Afternoon Class: 1:00PM – 4:00PM

  • Full Day: 9:00AM – 4:00PM


Half Day (Morning OR Afternoon Class) per session: $260

Full Day (Morning AND Afternoon Class) per session: $440

Summer in the Grove enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fees for Summer in the Grove are as follows:

  • $260 for half day per two-week session (June or August)

  • $440 for full day per two-week session (June or August)


Full payment upon registration is strongly preferred. However, a $100 deposit will secure your student’s place in the summer program. Summer program deposits are non-refundable and can only be applied toward the current year summer program fees. Payment plans are available upon request.


You may pay in cash, check, or charge and registration in not completed until payment of at least a $100 deposit is received. Directions for submitting payment will follow completion of the registration form, in your confirmation email.


Paying by check or cash helps to keep fees lower by avoiding service charges to the third parties that process payment. To help us maintain the cost per student, please consider paying by check.


The last day to cancel, make changes and/or pay outstanding tuition is May 19, 2019.  New enrollments may or may not be accepted after that date at the discretion of the AMEF Administrator. All deposits and fees will be forfeited if a cancellation is made after the deadline.


**A limited number of scholarships are available to students who qualify for free or reduced school lunch.  To apply for a scholarship, please email us.**
